Garden Open House and Plant

Open Garden event
at Blue Frog Garden Nursery . One weekend each year we take a break from the Farmers Market and other specialty plant sales. We
open the garden and invite other specialty nurseries and garden artists to join us. Then we invite you to come visit
us in the garden!
Our home and garden are situated within 5 acres of woodland on the Key Peninsula.
Over a half-mile of paths and trails have been carved out to intersect and connect different areas of the forest garden. The
gardens closest to the house are the most ornamentally planted. The variation of terrain brought about the need for several
areas of dry stacked stone walls. As you venture out you will find areas reclaimed from berry brambles that are awaiting further
inspiration. For the most part this garden is being created and maintained by an army of one. That would be me! Persistence
is the key word in this garden. Features incorporated within the forest garden include a dry river bed, a retreat garden,
(awaiting a retreat) shaded paths and pocket vistas. A Celtic spiral inspired labyrinth path. Created as
a place for contemplation as well as congregation. This garden hits its stride in the July as the sun displays its many facets
and make it sparkles like a green diamond. Come and explore. You can only get lost if you want to!
This years line up of guest specialty nurseries:
Lee Farm and Nursery :
For years I have offered an invite to Carrie and Dean Lee to join us but family obligation kept them away. Their
nursery is primarily a wholesale growing operation that offers an extensive list of hardy and ‘Carrie’ tested
plant material. She has no patients for whippy stuff. If she has it, it will be hardy, it will be healthy and ready to be
in your garden.
Finally, we welcome into our garden, from Fall City WA, Lee
Farm and Nursery
River Rock Nursery:
Gretchen has a standing invitation to join us at the Open Garden Event. Her
nursery with it’s plant selection has always been on the top of the list of cool nurseries. When we started our own
nursery, I had visions of becoming a version of River Rock North. We have yet to reach that goal. So, the next best thing
is to bring to the Key Peninsula, all the way from Damascus Oregon River Rock Nursery
